SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is used to verify if an e-mail message was sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the faking of email addresses made with the domain. In simple words: activating this attribute for a domain makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP of the servers which are allowed to send emails from mail boxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates globally, it will exist on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests whether it comes from an authorized server. When it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but when it does not come from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. Thus nobody can mask an e-mail address to make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This method is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting

When you host your domains in a cloud web hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mail addresses for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is accessible in a separate section where you're able to see which domain names are already protected. For the ones that are not, you can activate the SPF protection solution and set up a number of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. The last mentioned option is the most secure one, and it can be used if we manage the e-mail addresses for your domain names and you're not using some other e-mail supplier. The newly created records will be activated within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function comes with all the semi-dedicated servers, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you can use this service with ease for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a rather user-friendly interface, which means that you will not have to be tech-savvy in order to protected your e-mail addresses. You will only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be certified to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be activated for the domain that you have chosen. As an extra option, we will also allow you to control your outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes even further by allowing emails to be sent only if the domain in question has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name need to be taken care of here and not by some other supplier. By doing this you'll have even better control and there will not be a chance for somebody to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious activities.
